Monica Schwass

2023 NZ Finalist

Monica grew up on a sheep & beef farm in North Canterbury. She has a background in farmer engagement & extension and was previously the Future Farming Manager at The New Zealand Merino Company (NZM) where she developed and implemented a globally leading sustainability programme.

Monica now leads the Farm Systems team at Leaft Foods Limited, a Canterbury based company extracting Rubisco protein from lucerne leaves. She is passionate about creating options for on-farm diversification and ensuring a sustainable future for the next generation of farmers.
