Peter McGilchrist

Associate Professor in Meat Science at UNE

Peter grew up on a cattle property in NSW and holds a Bachelor of Rural Science from UNE. Peter serves as an Associate Professor in Meat Science at UNE, where he is dedicated to advancing the red meat industry.

As the President of the Australian Intercollegiate Meat Judging Association, Peter actively promotes excellence in experiential and immersive education among students from across Australia. His extensive experience in both academia and industry underscores his commitment to enhancing meat quality, ensuring consumer satisfaction around the globe.

With a strong research background, Peter focuses on meat science, supply chain factors, and innovations that continually advance the red meat sector. He is passionate about fostering the next generation of industry leaders, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to drive positive change in the field.

Through his leadership roles and academic pursuits, Peter aims to strengthen the industry's future while championing best practices and sustainability from genetics to the grill.
